In our Chess Talents series, we present 9-year-old Norbert Nagy (Norbi), one of Hungary’s youngest stars, under-8 and under-10 Hungarian champion and winner of the Hungarian Chess Federation and LearningChess Chess Olympiad Challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Below are the words of his coach P\u00e9ter G\u00e1l:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I started working with Norbi in February 2023 as his first coach. We successfully developed the minimal basics he had learned in the school chess club with LearningChess lessons and tactical puzzles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result of our preparation, five months (!) later, in June 2023, Norbi qualified for the final ten of the under-8 age group championship, where he became Hungarian champion with 8.5 points from 9 games and a 3-point advantage (!).<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nWhile many coaches in this age group had already “stuffed” their players with openings, my main concept was making the pupil strong in tactics. For this, the tactical puzzles of LearningChess were perfect because not only could you practice the motifs thematically, but what is unique about them is that you have to find the right solution to several opponents’ responses in one position. During these months, Norbi has already solved thousands of tactical puzzles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was only nine years old when we went through the complete LearningChess curriculum. Following that, in April 2024, he won the Hungarian under-10 championship. He enhanced his under-8 championship result by defending his Hungarian championship title with 9 out of 9 points (100% score)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Norbi is a very talented and hard-working kid with an excellent memory and great enthusiasm. In addition to his coaching guidance, the LearningChess online system has contributed greatly to his victories.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nIt is not surprising that Norbi won the Hungarian Chess Federation and LearningChess 2024 Chess Olympiad Challenge. The competition involved solving tactical puzzles with the aim of winning all the possible medals. With incredible enthusiasm and hard work, Norbi solved hundreds of puzzles in the first few days, setting a theoretical record. The organizers were amazed and applauded Norbi’s performance, which eventually won him the competition. Of course, if you know Norbi’s previous results and that he had looked at a lot of puzzles before, everything becomes clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By the way, my team performed very well in the Chess Olympiad Challenge. Noel G\u00e1losi won the silver medal, and N\u00f3ra T\u00e9di\u00f3 was in ninth place. Seven of my students were in the top 60, so I also earned the imaginary title of the most successful coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, I highly recommend the LearningChess system to all chess-playing children! I work with the programme in school groups and with private pupils, and the young people love it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Az iskolai sakk szakk\u00f6rben szerzett minim\u00e1lis alapokat a LearningChess leck\u00e9ivel \u00e9s taktikai fejt\u00f6r\u0151ivel fejlesztett\u00fck tov\u00e1bb, nagy sikerrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A v\u00e9geredm\u00e9ny az lett, hogy 2023 j\u00fanius\u00e1ban, azaz \u00f6t h\u00f3nap (!) m\u00falva Norbi bejutott a 8 \u00e9ven aluliak korcsoportos bajnoks\u00e1g\u00e1nak t\u00edzes d\u00f6nt\u0151j\u00e9be, ahol 9 partib\u00f3l 8,5 ponttal, 3 pont el\u0151nnyel (!) magyar bajnok lett.<\/p>\n\n\n M\u00edg t\u00f6bb edz\u0151 ebben a koroszt\u00e1lyban m\u00e1r megnyit\u00e1sokkal “t\u00f6mte” j\u00e1t\u00e9kosait, addig az \u00e9n legf\u0151bb koncepci\u00f3m az volt, hogy taktik\u00e1ban legyen igaz\u00e1n er\u0151s a tan\u00edtv\u00e1ny. Ehhez pedig t\u00f6k\u00e9letesek voltak a LearningChess taktikai fejt\u00f6r\u0151i, mert nemcsak tematikusan lehetett gyakoroltatni a mot\u00edvumokat, hanem ami egyedi benne, hogy egy \u00e1ll\u00e1sban az ellenf\u00e9l t\u00f6bb v\u00e1laszl\u00e9p\u00e9s\u00e9re is meg kell tal\u00e1lni a j\u00f3 megold\u00e1st. Norbi m\u00e1r ezekben a h\u00f3nap\u00f3kban t\u00f6bb ezer taktikai fejt\u0151r\u00f6t oldott meg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Miut\u00e1n Norbival a teljes LearningChess tananyagot \u00e1tvettem, 2024 \u00e1prilis\u00e1ban, 9 \u00e9vesen megnyerte a 10 \u00e9ven aluliak magyar bajnoks\u00e1g\u00e1t. Az U8-as bajnoki eredm\u00e9ny\u00e9re r\u00e1tett m\u00e9g egy lap\u00e1ttal, mert 9-b\u0151l 9 ponttal, azaz sz\u00e1zsz\u00e1zal\u00e9kos eredm\u00e9nnyel v\u00e9dte meg magyar bajnoki c\u00edm\u00e9t! (Ebben m\u00e1r edz\u0151 koll\u00e9g\u00e1m, Taskovits Istv\u00e1n szerepe is jelent\u0151s volt.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Norbi egy nagyon tehets\u00e9ges \u00e9s szorgalmas gyerek, kiv\u00e1l\u00f3 mem\u00f3ri\u00e1val \u00e9s hatalmas lelkesed\u00e9ssel. Gy\u0151zelmeihez pedig nagym\u00e9rt\u00e9kben hozz\u00e1j\u00e1rult az edz\u0151i ir\u00e1nymutat\u00e1son fel\u00fcl a LearningChess online rendszere.<\/p>\n\n\n Ezek ut\u00e1n m\u00e1r nem meglep\u0151, hogy Norbi nyerte meg a Magyar Sakksz\u00f6vets\u00e9g \u00e9s a LearningChess 2024-es Sakkolimpia Kih\u00edv\u00e1s\u00e1t. A versenyben taktikai fejt\u00f6r\u0151ket kellett megoldani, c\u00e9l az \u00f6sszes \u00e9rem megszerz\u00e9se volt. Hihetetlen lelkesed\u00e9ssel \u00e9s munkab\u00edr\u00e1ssal Norbi m\u00e1r az els\u0151 napokban megoldott soksz\u00e1z fejt\u00f6r\u0151t, amivel elm\u00e9leti rekordot \u00e1ll\u00edtott fel. A szervez\u0151k csod\u00e1lkozva \u00e9s elismer\u00e9ssel fogadt\u00e1k az teljes\u00edtm\u00e9nyt, amivel v\u00e9g\u00fcl Norbi megnyerte a versenyt. Persze ha ismerj\u00fck Norbi kor\u00e1bbi eredm\u00e9nyeit, \u00e9s hogy kor\u00e1bban m\u00e1r rengeteg fejt\u00f6r\u0151t n\u00e9zett \u00e1t, m\u00e1r minden \u00e9rthet\u0151v\u00e9 v\u00e1lik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Egy\u00e9bk\u00e9nt a Sakkolimpia Kih\u00edv\u00e1sban nemcsak az els\u0151 helyezett, Nagy Norbert az \u00e9n tan\u00edtv\u00e1nyom, hanem a m\u00e1sodik G\u00e1losi Noel, \u00e9s a kilencedik, T\u00e9di\u00f3 N\u00f3ra is.
