The enthusiastic math teacher Mr. Guillaume Leenhardt contacted us in July 2014, so he could prepared himself for the class by studying the lessons in the summer. By the time his 50 students started to learn from September with LearningChess.net, we got many suggestions from him in connection with our system.

We followed their progress with great interest, as at that time our lessons were only available in English. Gladly they progressed at a very intense rate, and they even gave us a great idea. Let’s see an article about this from their school website illustrated with photos:

Chess and math

Chess is strongly associated with math and no one would deny that the practice of chess improves analytical and logic skills. However the influence of chess in literature and arts is also important. This is what we will have the pleasure of discovering in the second season of the European Section’s show: dnalrednoW in ecilA – (inspired from Lewis Carroll’s “Through the looking-glass”) – held on the 19th of May at the Chapel.

The MPS students learnt how to play chess with an excellent tutor LearningChess.net, which we warmly recommend.

This nice-looking and user-friendly pedagogic tool aims at being used at schools and we are so convinced of its interest that we established friendly relations with their designers and helped with the translation of the first lessons to French.

Monday 16th March, at the opening of the math’s week, students could test their progress in a small tournament in the new classroom with tablet computers and a video-projector.
